RowMate Privacy Policy

This policy explains what information RowMate (“the app”) collects, how it's used, and the choices you have. RowMate is a personal training-tracking app for rowers and endurance athletes.

Information We Collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect the name you provide and a password. Your name is used to generate an internal login identifier. RowMate does not require or collect a real email address.

Profile information. Optionally: age, weight, height, skill level, sport, club, and event you row/train for.

Training data. Sessions you plan or log, including activity type, duration, distance, splits, stroke rate, watts, heart rate, RPE (perceived effort), notes, and gym exercises (name/sets/reps). Morning check-in responses (sleep quality, muscle soreness) if you use that feature.

Device information. RowMate schedules local notifications/reminders on your device for training reminders. These are generated and delivered entirely on-device. We do not use push-notification services and do not collect a device push token.

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or camera data.

How We Use Your Information

  • To display your training history, calculate recovery/readiness scores, and track personal bests and goals.
  • To generate optional AI-powered coaching messages and training reports, if that feature is enabled in the app. When it is, relevant training data is sent to Anthropic (the provider of the Claude AI model) solely to generate that message. It is not used to train Anthropic's models and is not shared for advertising.
  • To operate core app functionality (authentication, syncing your data across sessions).

We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising or share it with data brokers.

Where Your Data Is Stored

Your data is stored in a Supabase-hosted PostgreSQL database with row-level security, meaning the database itself enforces that you can only ever access your own records. Your session credentials are stored encrypted on your device.

Your Choices

  • Edit or delete your data. You can edit your profile, sessions, and goals at any time within the app.
  • Delete your account. From Profile → Delete Account, you can permanently delete your account and all associated data at any time. This action is immediate and cannot be undone.
  • Notifications. You can disable reminder notifications from within the app or your device's notification settings.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account exists. Deleting your account permanently removes your data from our systems.

Children's Privacy

RowMate is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, we'll update the “Last updated” date above. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
